Please post here your ideas or what you think that could work out.


I say to make something small and easy like those 4 panels comics. After seeing how things turn out we can decide on what to do more seriously.

Sorry for bringing gloom and doom, but I'd like to point out there isn't nearly as much interest in producing original content on /jp/ as there was last year when the /jp/ Project was formed. And ultimately, only one project--The Dandelion Girl kinetic novel--was successfully completed. I find it extremely improbable anything will be accomplished here.

But if you truly have the desire to work on something together, I suggest you quickly look through the /jp/ Project forum to learn about how projects start, and how they die. Then try to avoid the same pitfalls that killed the currently abandoned projects.

Everyone can look up at the sky in wonder, a sense of awe enveloping each child as they look up at the seemingly unreachable countries. A man dreams of reaching across the world to the other countries that he can see up in the sky. A girl, on the other hand, dreams of digging downwards into a new, unknown world that can't be seen. The girl makes a promise to accompany the guy if he promises to go with her to dig into a new world. He accepts. However, in the end, despite moving from area to area in search of the magicallity that the locations seemed to have, they find that every single place is woefully similar, travelers going from place to place, searching for those adventures that they longed to partake in. The man, his sense of adventure horribly unsatisfied, realizes that the only way to feed it is by reaching for the invisible, unreachable star that the girl was searching for.

In the future, where overpopulation becomes an important issue, and technology hasn't advanced enough to enable living in space, crime and poverty become widespread. Old tales and myths arise once again, one of the more prevalent ones being the rumored Elixir of Life. The protagonist, one of these "hunters", believes that the key lies in the tears of an isolated girl that's supposedly lived for centuries. However, upon meeting her, and hearing her sad tales from centuries ago, he's realized that he can never muster up the courage to see tears come from her eyes. Never revealing his original intentions to the girl, he and she go on WACKY ADVENTURES to protect her from the decaying world and the other hunters. However, it's eventually revealed that she is just a normal girl, raised to protect and carry the library that's been passed down from generation to generation. At this point, however, the word has already been spread, and he's now aware of the mortal fragility of the girl that sits next to him.

Protagonist wakes up on the floor (right next to his bed) with a headache, and only the empty beer bottles scattered across the floor tell him that he has no idea what happened because he was just completely drunk. He can't remember anything at all, not even his name. (Calendar shows it's saturday morning.)

Confident that his memory will return once he's more sober, he just goes on with his day. However, by the end of the weekend he still doesn't know anything, and he gets worried. He eventually finds his ID in his wallet and finds out who he is, and remembers a couple trivial things. After staying home for a couple of days, his phone rings, with someone asking why he was absent from school all this time.

He goes to school, remembering trivial things one by one, where he also finds out that his girlfriend has also been absent since the weekend. (Remembers stuff about girlfriend.)
He eventually finds out (and remembers) that he and his girlfriend were at his home that friday night.
At that point, he starts regaining his memories quickly, and remembers how they went to his house to finish a school project, but ended up drinking.

Protagonist hurries towards his home because he has a very bad feeling about his vague memories, starts rummaging around in the trash bin besides his desk, and finds a key. At that point, he remembers how he and his girlfriend, both kinda drunk, got in a fight over something trivial.

He uses the key to open his closet (the kind of closet that's like a mini-room to store stuff, with a regular-sized door and stuff), which has remained closed up until now, and at that point he remembers everything.
He got in a fight with his girlfriend over something trivial, swung an empty beer bottle at her, she attempted to dodge but that only caused her to hit at like her temples or something. Girlfriend drops dead immediately, drunken protagonist panicks and can only think 'omg murder police will come hide the body' and in the confusion, he stuffs the body in his closet and locks it. Still panicking, he steps backwards (key still in hand) only to painfully hit the back of his head, causing him to faint, drop the key in the trash bin, and lose his memory.

^those last couple of memories are shown intermittently with the scenes of him finding the body, the police arresting him and him being sentenced to jail for murder.

A couple scientists conduct a project to create a god and genetically modify a series of children/people but 99% of the subjects are considered failures as none of them attain the true capabilities of a god (these are the Olympians with assigned project names of the appropriate gods). Main character should be one of these characters, my vote being for one with a likable personality like Aries as a hot blooded street punk. The plot would go something like the Olympians finding out about themselves years after they'd already been modified with the goal of becoming a god by reaching Olympus (Another dimension? A special lab?). Along the way they fight amongst themselves for the role of leader of the gods as the natural order would say Zeus should fill that role, but..really, who wants to be dominated so easily? Later on the Titans pop up and wreck their shit with Uranus set as the "true god" waiting at Olympus for the Olympians to wipe them from existence.

- Protagonist has the ability to sense and see people's thought. One day, however, he met this girl whose thought cannot be read and thus frightened and intrigued him at the same time.

- Slice-of-life story of a genius who is socially challenged working in a lab with other mad scientists with a charismatic leader who is suffering from lung cancer. (Caution: SCIENCE)

- Slice-of-life story again, this time from the perspective a lone wanderer in a post-apocalyptic world. One can use this as an introduction to a setting and thus, should we want a bigger story, we can continue from here. (Soft sci-fic or a good twist of high fantasy: world is almost destroyed after the big bad managed to execute a doomsday spell.

Main character is a completely insecure person who wishes he could be like other people despite have a few good traits himself that everyone but him can see. One day, he inexplicably gains the ability to absorb entire people and gain their qualities via skin contact while he's getting the shit beat out of him. As time goes on he absorbs more and more people while a rash of disappearances plague the city, but with each person he eats their mental turmoil and anger pile onto his own mind.

The world is filled with zombies & undead after some uber lich conquers every living nation. Some survivors banded together to make a small village in a remote area. The player lives there now and there has been relative peace for a few years when (insert love interest here) a pretty girl takes refuge in your home, leading a slow moving, but persistant patrol of undead towards one of the last few holdouts of living souls.

The theme could be a basic story about compromise between saving one or saving many, (or both.)Or building your own happiness in a world that seems in short supply. Or we could get all powerlevels about it and make the mystery girl have some kind of power and branch of into continuing stories fighting a crusade against the legions of death. (Not recommended)

The Magical Girl is an established heroine. She is famous around the world for saving people from monsters with the power of love and justice. There's a Saturday morning cartoon show based on her, there's a cereal named after her, etc. She is the beloved idol of everyone. And when The Evil Overlord appears, she fights her way through his army to battle him.

But defeating him will require her to use the Final Attack that she has never used before. Why has she not used it? Because doing so will kill her. She has known since she inherited her power at an early age that she is ultimately destined for martyrdom. But despite being the supposed paragon of love and justice, she could not bring herself to end her own life to save humanity. And so she was defeated, and the world as we know it ended.

Now enter The Protagonist, a typical Anon. He is intensely cynical and unerringly misanthropic. While he does not enjoy the lack of electricity and whatnot brought on by the eradication of civilization, he does not shed a tear for the 6 billion casualties of the global holocaust. By a stroke of luck he happens across the Magical Girl in the ruins of his town.

The once vibrant and cheerful heroine is now filled with hate and self-loathing, but also bitterness. Although she blames herself for humanity's downfall, she also believes it was unfair that she was supposed to be the only one to die. Previously she had never really given thought to what it meant to die, but when it came time end herself in exchange for humanity's salvation, she could not accept it.

As you discover through later conversations, The Evil Overlord deliberately spared her life so that she could watch the world suffer and die around her. He released back to her home after he and his men finished taking turns ravaging her. If it wasn't for a rusty coat hanger, the Magical Girl would have given birth to the Overlord's child by now.

The mutual cynicism of the Protagonist and the Magical Girl forms an odd sort of chemistry and they develop a growing friendship. She takes up residence with him in the back room of a small liquor store that was miraculously never pillaged by the Overlord's army. The Magical Girl has apparently been on the run from the Overlord's roving assassination squads. He has decided that he's tortured her long enough and wants to finish her off once and for all before moving onto the next planet. So far she has been able to defeat the assassins, but each battle is more intense than the last, and the scars across her body show that she has nearly met her match.

Finally, the Evil Overlord himself confronts her, along with his elite guard. Anonymous tells the Magical Girl to run, and tries to pull her by the hand, but she resists. She realizes now that there is no escape. Her regular attacks do not even faze the Overlord. She tells Anonymous to run as fast as he can, and to not stop until he collapses.

She then stares down the nigh-omnipotent Overlord and the vast army that flanks him. She transforms into a new costume, much more serious-looking than the frilly pink tutu she wore in the past. A pillar of light erupts around her.

"The earth," she says, "the heavens, and everything in between. All the lost souls who cry out for peace. Their heartbeats resonate within me." All around her, rocks, trees, grass, all living things begin to glimmer and pulsate in sync with the light surrounding the girl. "Behold, the final roar of this dying world. Flame Of Life." And with that last word, white hot light from all around gathers into her and explodes outward from her body and lays waste to the opposing army. The Overlord himself is disintegrated, and not a single trace is left of his troops.

All that remains is Anonymous, the sole survivor saved by the girl's final sacrifice.

A visual novel set in the future where human brains have become computers, connected to each other psychically, and as such the internet has evolved into a parallel reality. A government designed, thinking search program designed to monitor "The Ether", as its called, for terrorist activities. It runs out of control and begins to seek out lonely, unhappy people to take them away to a place where they can be happy. As such, people start disappearing. The VN plays out from three different, intertwined paths: someone looking for his missing friend, a drug dealer who becomes the prime suspect in one of the disappearances, and a detective who senses that there is something greater behind the disappearances.

I thought it was a good idea at the time, but now it just seems sorta tired and cliche. Plus, I'm sure Lain and Dennou Coil already did some of these ideas and I ripped them off without thinking about it.

Then there was my other idea about the guy who must choose between 2D and 3D. He's a frustrated loner who has taken on the task of translating a visual novel. One night, he has a breakdown and decides to go out and do the things a normal person would do. He gets drunk and ends up in bed with an underage girl. Its basically about him trying to be happy. Over the course of the game he runs into a girl he liked in high school. He also has to deal with the ever growing influence of his waifu: a soul less, pure moeblob that symbolizes all the safety and security he wants in life.

This the culmination of many ideas I've had over the past few months.

Eroges usually feature your average Japanese high school student as the protagonist, with few defining characteristics and usually some history with at least one of the female leads. Well, not a bad setup, but I have better plans. In this eroge, you play ethene.

Ethene (or ethylene), as you may know, requires a range of catalysts to react in any reasonable rate with many compounds, only the sluttiest of the elements such as fluorine and chlorine can force themselves on it without external influence (while methane reacts even less and indeed was the first choice for this plan, ethene allows a larger number of reactions, and therefore routes. ) Therefore, while the main female characters will be the compounds directly reacting with ethylene, the catalysts for such reactions will make up the support cast.

Polymerization Route (Propene)
Propene is, quite obviously, you elder sister, one step up the ladder of alkenes. For the purposes of this game, she is also your only sister, I don't think there are enough naphthalene and eicosene fetishists to warrant the higher (or aromatic) alkenes' inclusion. At any rate – large breasts, concerned about her weight and figure (Propene's molar mass is 42. ) and explosive temper especially when confronted about it (after all, propene can be used as fuel and is highly flammable. )"

I've always wanted a hobo VN.

The Setting
- A city would be ideal, maybe have it close to the countryside if your route leads there
- Other places: park, the soup kitchen, subway, houses and apartments of people depending on the route
- If there's gonna be a school, I guess you'd visit it for bitter memory sequences or if any other student characters will be in it
- The VN could be grounded in reality or I could add some magical aspect to it, especially if the hero's gonna have a special condition

Main Character
- Teenager down on his luck, currently homeless. In school he was above average but he's had to drop out for obvious reasons. He didn't care much for school, though, since he didn't have that many friends and largely went by unnoticed.
- Should he have some sort of medical condition? Many homeless do, constantly paying medical bills has this kind of effect. Hell even amnesia would be enough. It could be grounded in real life or could be magical somehow, if you wanna pull a Shiki
- Reason for homelessness could be A) personal beef with parents or B) they all died, I'm not sure yet
- Personality: bitter and pessimistic, with a slight tinge of hope? I don't want an extremely depressing VN, unless you guys think it'd be better like that, but I think a "cold-hearted to survive" kind of thing would be fine
- Random lines he might say:
1. "I wake up. Good. I'm still alive."
2. "I watch them walk by. What fools - there's more to life than fancy clothes and camera phones."
3. "I've been hungry before, but never this hungry. I think I can feel the stomach acid burning through my insides."
- Oh fuck yeah, maybe since he's smart he could be like MacGyver and make tools out of anything
- Being homeless sucks, sometimes you're forced to commit crimes in order to continue living. I'm guessing a lot of choices will involve things like stealing, eating dirty food, where to sleep...
- I don't think our guy cares much for how he looks, since he's broke. Unkempt hair, growing facial hair that he shaves with a knife (still a maybe on this), shitty clothing and he only has one shirt and jeans that fit

Family
Well if they're all dead this wouldn't need a section, but for now...
- Your father could be in tons of debt which leads to your current situation. Maybe him and your mother are "taken away" by debt collectors or something... you're too old for child services so you try to carve your own path in the real world, but wait that would make you an upbeat guy, that might not work. In any case this would allow for your imouto to be put into a foster home, sucks for her lol
- If everyone's still alive then maybe your father can be a drunk asshole "I have no son" kind of person. He sends you away with yakuza/debt collectors/whoever to pay off his own debts, but you frantically escape and that's why you're a hobo

Heroine Ideas
Possible routes for girls to fuck (or not fuck, if that's your thing)
- [Possible Loli?] Imouto route, depending on how the protagonist's backstory plays out. She'd miss her brother, simple as that. I wanna save the tsundere slot for someone else, lol. "I don't care about money or foster parents or any of that! As long as I'm with oniichan..."
- [Possible Main Heroine?] Girl who works at the soup kitchen you occasionally visit. She could be tsundere, maybe. "I-it's not like I like doing this, my dad makes me go here!" Maybe she'll get attacked by thugs/thieves/fellow homeless and you rescue her, changing your relationship with her for the better
- [Possible Main Heroine?] Early on something could happen where you almost die (you're attacked, or stabbed, or try to commit suicide, etc.) and you wake up in a bed. Your wounds are healed, or at least healed to the best of the ability of whoever did it. I'm thinking a shopkeeper found you and she figured you'd need help since you're lying down in a pool of your own blood, so she took you in and fixed you up. In return, you will have to work for her, making deliveries and stuff like that until you work off your debt (your character could have a mentality where he feels he must always return a favor in full, due to experiences with his father). As for personality, I guess she'd be laid-back except when she gets serious OR she's all spiritual and crap with stuff like "There's a reason we found each other. I will save you."
- [Possible Main Heroine?] A fellow homeless friend would be nice, and it'd be even nicer if she's a girl. In contrast to your dark demeanor she has a bubbly, upbeat personality but on the inside she's a bigger wreck than you. She might suicide later on, dunno if it'll be plot-automatic.
- [Possible Loli?] How about a rich girl who watches you from her window every day as you trudge through the park or wherever she lives? Then one day she pleads with her father to let you stay at their place. Maybe she could be slightly or full-on yandere.
1. "I have everything I would possibly ever need... and nothing I actually want."
2. "Who's that girl you talked with the other day? I don't like her..."
3. "You should be dead! I took you in when no one else would -- YOU belong to ME!"
- [Possible Main Heroine?] A girl from the school you used to go to. I dunno yet if she knows you, or if you know her, or if you knew of her and even liked her. There could be a thing where she meets with you after school and the two of you walk towards her house, and you try to hide the fact that you're homeless but eventually she figures it out. Should she be shocked and angry at your deception, or did she know all along and still wanted to be with you? "I haven't seen you around lately. Aren't you worried about tests?"
- How about a MYSTERIOUS WOMAN who you can meet early on, and she invites you to go to the countryside with her and you agree and you both live your life out there tending the land and easy shit like that. OR she invites you to go with her wherever she goes and it's both out in the country and the city, and you live a luxurious life in a penthouse and crazy shit like that, and then OH NO you find out she's the reason why you're poor as fuck because she leads a gang or corporation or something
- Maybe if you stay in the park a lot there's a police officer who berates you then befriends you, so police officer route? Or how about there's some kids who play with you and one of them's a single mom. Maybe she can be the one saved from thugs, or you rape her or something (I was gonna say and you could GOOD END the kid too but fuck that)

- One potential problem with this VN is that I can't really make out any ultimate evil in here. The money lenders are shady, yeah, but it's your old man's fault for borrowing money in the first place. I can't imagine some GAR homeless guy, either... maybe the antagonists would be some really rich dude who wants to troll all hobos, or that MYSTERIOUS WOMAN, or it ends up being one of the Heroines if you pick the wrong choices

Other Shit
- Walking everywhere sucks, but you don't have money for the bus or subway. How does having a bike sound?
- Suicide won't always be a bad end, but you're in danger of dying from cold weather, lack of food and water, and random crime or police brutality. I read about a homeless man that was set on fire as he was sleeping and he died, people really do not care about them ;_;
- Who's heard of bum fights? I could work some fighting stuff in there if it sounds interesting enough (like that's one way you earn pay)
- Speaking of pay, our character could keep track of how much money he has which will be important to the story. Money for the bus means meeting a heroine, for example
- I wonder how the homeless dress? Anyone willing to draw this would have a lot of freedom, I'd imagine
- If there's a school, would it be a high school or college? If our guy's in college it might be easier
- Should there be a gimmick like the player choosing what month to start the game in? That way they could experience a sad, cold winter or travel the countryside during summer or go to school if it's in session, things like that

Main Character:
All his life he's been a mediocre student and completely lacking in all forms of athleticism. Because of this, he's never been raised to any sort of standards by his parents other than to not disgrace them. Needless to say, he grows up with a very low sense of self esteem and wishing he could be more like his classmates who both excel in schoolwork and sports. Because of this great envy, however, he'd never noticed how his crude doodles in early grade school had turned into impressive sketches in the eyes of people who would casually look onto his notes from time to time.

Beginning:
One day as he's walking home from school, he walks by a group of rowdy guys in their 20's, the "leader" of which had gorgeous yet obviously loose girl by his side. Not paying much attention due to something catching his eye, the main character runs into the alpha and triggers the guy's impulse to show off in front of his friends and girl. In a few seconds, they all move to an alley wherein our hero gets robbed, stripped, and beat within an inch of his life.

While this happens, the alpha's love interest sighs and tries to convince her man to stop wasting time on him, saying things like how he's just a worthless nobody who isn't worth the effort. It's then that she's identified as a classmate of the main character.

The group go away after a signal from the alpha and leave him do finish the victim off. As he does, the main character grabs a hold of his assailant’s arm and something strange happens; his hand melds into the alpha's arm. Still pitying himself to the point of even envying this man for having lots of friends and a girlfriend, the main character decides he'd rather be a rotten person with notable qualities than himself and begins to "eat" the other man by sucking him up like a straw through his own hand. During all this he blacks out and wakes up the next day in that very same alley; wearing the other man’s clothes and his figure becoming more sculpted than it was before.

Plot:
As time goes on, the main character goes to school regularly, except that now he's gained a bit a confidence and athleticism courteously of his first meal. He musters up the courage to ask the girl he'd always had a crush on; a smart girl with very few friends and who frequently kept to herself out of shyness. Having always loved him, the girl accepts and thus begins their relationship.

As time goes on, however, he covets other people's skills and abilities and starts to eat frequently, trying to avoid class mates if he can though he fails a few times. Each time he eats another person, however, a small sound in the back of his mind, similar to static, goes louder and louder. At first it's rather easy to ignore such a minor annoyance, but as he feasts on people the sound becomes louder and clearer; the noise is the voices of people telling him to kill himself. Through sheer willpower, he manages to suppress the sounds but in exchange becomes highly irritable and aggressive (see: roid rage).

Eventually he gets into a fight with the shy girl over how she no longer wanted to be with him since he wasn't the calm, sweet, artistic boy she fell in love with. Enraged, her hits her, breaking her jaw due to the amassed strength gained from everyone he'd eaten. Seeing her bleeding and crying on the floor is enough to snap him back to his senses, making himself panic over the man-monster he'd become and rushes over to help her up. Sobbing, he touches her face and begins apologizing frantically, promising he'd change back to his normal self someway over and over again. Unfortunately, by now his power to eat people had become unstable and he unwilling then absorbs the girl into his body as well.

Driven into a state of mind numbing strife, he no longer represses the voices telling him to commit suicide and wanders back into the alley with the same knife that should've ended his life on that day of his first meal.

The next day his body, and the bodies of everyone he'd eaten were all found in the alley with all of them dead, having identical slash marks across their necks.

Possible Heroines:
- The bookworm. Through the main character's increased confidence and tact, she becomes more open and sociable. On the night of a big dance, they rent a hotel and have sex.
- The girl whom was with the first man eaten. She becomes attracted to the main character as many of his actions become similar to her ex boyfriends. What really appeals to her, though, is his gentle nature and the sketches he makes. Eventually, she asks him to draw her while she models for him in the nude. They have sex shortly thereafter, of course.
- The MILF next door whose husband works out of town frequently. He frequently baby-sits her young daughter (12) so they have a caring almost mother-son relationship. Once he absorbs that first man, however, she begins to notice the main character maturing from the boy she'd always known and start to become enticed by his more impressive qualities. One night, she sends off her daughter to her friend’s home and awaits the main character for his usual baby sitting night. Needless to say she seduces him and they have sex.
- The daughter of the MILF who'd always had a crush on the main character since he began baby sitting her. Once he absorbs those people however, she becomes motivated towards being more mature so that the main character will become enticed by her. Though he changes, she helps him retain more of his normal qualities and makes him realize his true self has merit. They're forced to take a bath together due to odd circumstances and she manages to seduce him into having sex with her.

Besides this, you could also try to adapt a short story or other non-VN story, like the Dandygirl devs did. "All You Zombies" was suggested for this purpose in the Dandygirl release thread...can't say anything about the story myself, as I haven't read it though.

Anyways, if you think you have a good idea for a VN, post it. If you think an idea is good enough, make a thread for it to see if there are other people interested in working on the project. If there's enough people willing to work on it, well, start working on it.

To Admin: It might also be nice to make a forum for remix/rearrangement original content. /jp/ project had some nice /jp/-related rearrangements.
